Preamble:

Department of Pharmacy Practice (DPP) was established in the year 2011 with the initiation of Pharm. D (Doctor of Pharmacy) course in the college. The commencement of the course in the college was mainly done with the objective of evolving the concept of clinical pharmacy specialty through a proper teaching and training such that rational patient care reaches to the public. Our college had signed MOU with PVS Hospital (P) Ltd, Calicut, a 310 bedded multispecialty hospital for the training and functioning of clinical pharmacy for our Pharm. D students.
The functioning of the Pharmacy Practice Department was established through a Drug Information Centre (Clinical Pharmacy Division) at PVS Hospital (P) Ltd, in November 2012. This centre provides needful services to the health care professionals and patients, for example drug and therapeutic related information on request. The staffs of the department coordinates the most fundamental activities of clinical pharmacy that includes medication chart review, ward rounds, drug information, adverse drug reaction monitoring, clinical advisory, patient counseling and patient information leaflet preparations.
The clinical pharmacy services provided to the hospital and other healthcare settings of our college vicinity has been well received by the healthcare professionals, patients, as well as the public. Facilities available in the department includes well furnished LCD aided clinical presentation room, department library with internet facility, staff rooms, a drug information centre, Clinirex drug index (An online access to drug information that includes drug profile, drug interaction checker, nomograms, etc.,), clinical pharmacy related textbooks and e – books.
